Amenities:
We have no telephone. There are two televisions, one DVD player and a portable CD player available. Take a look at the pictures under the coffee table and you can see the progress we've made on fixing it up. It was a mess!!! We still have much to do, just no time and money to do it...but it is fine for now. Feel free to use anything...towels, sheets, condiments in the kitchen, and a BBQ on the back deck. I am not sure if we have any briquettes on hand. If you plan to barbeque, you might want to bring some. In the basement there is a washing machine and dryer. There should be soap, that is, if someone hasn't used it all up. Also in the basement are beach chairs and umbrellas. There is wood stacked in the back, but it is curing, so it is not ready to burn. You can buy several Presto logs from the grocery store to start a fire, then add some larger pieces of wood. It works great.
Cleaning:
When leaving, please clean and leave the house ready for the next renters. Wash towels and sheets and replace them. Some friends choose to bring their own sheets and towels to avoid the task of doing laundry the day of departure. Please shut the fireplace flue, clean up doggie duties in the back yard, lock all doors and take any food that you have brought, turn off the heat, the stove and oven. Shut all windows, turn off lights and make sure you unplug the coffee pot. Several weeks ago it was left on. Also, please clean and take out your garbage as we don't have garbage service. We try to rent our little house reasonably to friends, family and friends of friends and everyone seems happy to clean up. I am currently checking on a cleaning service if renters don't want to clean it themselves. You can ask me about that if you are interested. We have had such good luck and love sharing our little "funky beach house". Oh, yes, don't forget to replace the key. It is easy to remember because you must lock the door from the outside when leaving.
P.S. We, of course, have the "Perpetual Christmas Tree" and lights.

Visitors seem to like the idea. One group of visitors began a tradition. They bought us one set of 'beach ornaments' at the Christmas shop; a male (mermale) and female (mermaid). When we visited our little house, the unique ornaments were boxed up, signed by Mary and Denny and waiting for us under the tree. We were very surprised! Well, now the tradition has stuck and many of our guests want to buy one ornament relating to their personalities or to the beach itself. Once our little tradition caught on, guests loved shopping for the perfect, funny ornament. When returning to our house, our guests enjoy seeing the ornaments that others have bought. Please DO NOT feel obligated to continue this as we do not expect it. If you want to do this, we would be glad to deduct the price of the expense from your rent. Please sign your ornament with a permanent pen with the date. There should be a pen under the tree. Remember....you are NOT obligated...so don't worry.
Have a wonderful time at our house. Please give us a call at 541.504.3253 or our cell at 503.504.2764 if you have any problems or questions. Any suggestions are appreciated to make your stay more pleasant.
